Our school was founded in 1987 by Sensei Mike Smith as the Moreno Valley School of Aikido and Karate. The dojo existed for 17 years in what was more or less a converted storage space behind a fabric shop on Sunnymead Blvd.

In late 2004, the building housing our original dojo was sold and we were lucky to find space inside the state-of-the-art Canyon Crest Athletic Club, where we currently operate. While older students will remember the basic, rustic charm of the old dojo, most of us are happy to have traded it in for a space with such modern conveniences as air conditioning and windows. The only downside is that we are no longer allowed to make holes in the walls.
